Brain Dumpi is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We believe in transparency and keeping things simple.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
- Display name — optional, used for personalization
- Authentication provider — whether you signed in via Apple, Google, or email
Voice Recordings
When you use Brain Dumpi to capture a voice note:
- Audio data is temporarily transmitted to our secure servers for processing
- Audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription
- We do not permanently store your audio recordings on our servers. Audio data is processed in real time and discarded after transcription is complete
Transcriptions & Analysis
- The resulting text transcription is returned to your device
- If you use the analysis feature, the transcribed text is sent to OpenAI's GPT API for intelligent task extraction and summarization
- Results are stored locally on your device
Usage Data
- Request counts — we track the number of requests (daily and monthly) to enforce fair usage limits
- Timestamps — when you last used the service
- We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, location data, or analytics tracking information
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Provide the voice-to-text transcription service
- Generate AI-powered analysis of your voice notes (task extraction, summaries)
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Enforce fair usage limits to maintain service quality for all users
- Communicate important service updates if necessary
We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
3. Third-Party AI Data Sharing
Brain Dumpi shares your personal data with a third-party AI service provider to deliver its core features. Specifically:
Your audio recordings are sent to OpenAI (via their Whisper API) for speech-to-text transcription.
Your transcribed text is sent to OpenAI (via their GPT API) for analysis — extracting tasks, summaries, and key ideas.
Your language preference is sent to improve transcription accuracy.
Consent
Before any personal data is shared with OpenAI, Brain Dumpi asks for your explicit consent. You may:
- Agree — enabling AI transcription and analysis of your recordings
- Decline — you can still record audio, but recordings will not be transcribed or analyzed
- Revoke consent at any time — via the Privacy section in Settings, which immediately stops all data sharing with OpenAI
How OpenAI handles your data
- OpenAI processes your data solely to provide the transcription and analysis service
- OpenAI does not use data submitted via API to train their models
- Data is transmitted securely via HTTPS/TLS encryption
- OpenAI's data handling is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy, which provides equivalent data protection
4. Other Third-Party Services
Brain Dumpi also uses:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database storage, and cloud functions hosting. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy
5. Data Storage & Security
- Your account data is stored securely in Google Cloud with security rules that ensure only you can access your own data
- All data transmission is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS
- Authentication tokens are securely managed by Firebase Authentication
- API keys and secrets are stored in Google Cloud Secret Manager, never in client-side code
6. Data Retention
- Audio recordings: Not retained — processed in real time and immediately discarded
- Transcriptions and analysis: Stored until you delete them or delete your account
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. Upon account deletion, all associated data is permanently removed
- Usage counters: Daily counters are kept for operational purposes and are not linked to specific content
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — view all data associated with your account
- Delete — request complete deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability — request an export of your data in a standard format
- Withdraw consent — stop using the service at any time and request data removal

8. Children's Privacy
Brain Dumpi is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at braindumpiinfo@gmail.com and we will promptly delete the information.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of Brain Dumpi after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
